JEOGORI VARIATION

Grace Moon's Runway show

Pacific Design Centre

15 Oct. 2017

This was a collection for the show of Grace Moon in Los Angeles Style Fashion Week in 2017. Grace Moon is the name of the fashion brand of JM Inspired Design based on US which I have worked for almost 5 years as a fashion designer.

The collection’s primary inspiration is  Jeogori which is a traditional Korean upper garment of male and female in the 15th century.

I aimed at classic but modern and wearable design with it.

The different length of each front side panel represents contemporary, but using silk and the flat pattern is based on the research of traditional garments making method.

I tried to use the shape of Jeogori in various ways and apply it to different parts of the clothing.
Besides, I designed a dress inspired by a Dang'ui, another type of upper garment for women, which was worn for especially ceremonial occasions during the Joseon Dynasty. Further, I used the traditional Korea patchwork as colour blocks motif for the dresses.
